I'm having the same problem with the LG. Last year it worked great as a hatcher. This year the temps are all over. Usually swinging between 95 and 102+.
8 Bourbon Reds, 7 Speckled Sussex, 10 Lavender Orps, 2 LO x Barred Rock and 3 more pipped. 2 turkey, 2 SS and 2 LO eggs look to be quitters. My blond chick has wry neck .
7 chicks so far. 2 poults and 1 more nearly zipped. My poults are really wet. I incubated them in a different incubator than the chick eggs and the humidity ran a little higher. It really wasn't much higher, so I'm surprised they are so wet.
I went to bed last night with 2 Bourbon Red eggs and one LO egg pipped. Woke up this morning with one Speckled Sussex chick. Looks like at least 9 pips in there now. Those turkeys are making me nervous. Of course the chicks aren't due until tomorrow and the turkeys on Wednesday.
I had a turkey hen last year who would remove appendages if I got anywhere close. I swiped a few eggs when I sneaked in and she was off the nest. But she caught me and after that, she kept a watch out for me. We'd race for the nest box. She started changing the times she got off the nest...
Tossed 1 BR turkey, one SS and 2 LO eggs. Not bad. I won't candle again until lock down.
I'm pretty sad. I was supposed to be getting shipped Speckled Sussex eggs, but they emailed and said not this year. Anyone have any non hatchery SS eggs? They are so hard to find.
They told me several times they could ship them, but I could see them bouncing around for hours in the USPS truck, versus 2 1/2 in mine.
That's great that someone would drive that far to meet you. Hope you have a great hatch!
My ride along backed out at the last moment. I sure could have used a second set of eyes. GPS in Oklahoma is risky, at best. I was told not to bother putting in the address or I'd never get there.
Next time you pick up kids at a bus stop, pick up a couple cheery ones instead of cranky ones.
Picked up my Bourbon Red eggs today and got them in the incubator. So glad I got the call for today and not tomorrow. Storms expected and I don't like driving in Okla-tornado-homa during storms.
