That down does look blue to me.
You can see in my BBS chicks the difference between blue down, the splash down (very pale silvery grey), and black down (there are also a couple Dominant Whites here):
Had a peek at the babies when I went out to close up the main coop. They have already found the food and water. Some are under the plate, some are under the lamp. All 22 *do* fit under the plate at the moment (it's the big Producer's Pride plate), but with such a big batch I'll have to keep a...
I candled the three eggs that are left and I think they're DIS, but I made a safely hole in each one and I'll leave them another day to see if anything happens.
I took 22 chicks out of the incubator this morning!
3 eggs left that I'll candle later to see what's up with them.
The 3 pullet eggs hatched, and I clearly have chicks that are smaller but they're just as lively. One of them was the shrink-wrapped chick. If my theory about stacked eggs is...
I still don't know how many I have -- it's bursting full in there, but I can't relocate the older chicks from the brooder until tomorrow. The weather is clearing but it's going to be nearly down to freezing tonight so both the older chicks in the brooder and the babies in the incubator are...
A sampling of my terrible photos of hatching chicks taken through the incubator wall.
I have no idea how many have hatched and how many are still to go.
One out this morning. Another zipping and more pips.
I'll have a bunch of them when I get home from church but hopefully a few will wait until late afternoon so that the grandchildren can see them hatch.
I never managed to get the NR 360 unstacked. My babies are going to be in there like fluffy sardines come Monday morning.
I've got 25 in lockdown, including 3 of the little pullet eggs.
If I can find a better option for a breed basket than the ones that failed I'll put the pullet eggs...
Congratulations to everyone who has hatchlings. I've been too busy to follow along the last few days.
I'm going to put mine into lockdown today for Sunday hatching.
