This, loosely,is the FL Panhandle. If I included a bit more of Alabama, and a bit less of the coast, it would be called the "Wiregrass" for reasons you can likely guess at. In any event, doesn't seem like I'll be culling those extra drakes and roos this AM. Another line behind this (slow...

Could not manage to fit the 4th in frame. Given how big they are already, it's amazing how skittish turkeys are.

OK, I've done a head count, looked at the new chicks, looked at the old ducks, taken a quick survey of the male/female ratios. Setting another batch of chicken eggs this weekend. and hopefully processing four birds - two drakes, two roos.

I slept thru much of last weekend. My body stopped accepting no as an answer.

Just passed my latest npip recertification. Not much else, didn't accomplish as much as I had hoped last weekend.

Got hold of FWC. @NatJ was 99% of the way there. You can't hunt (or take) grey fox in FL because FWC hasn't established a season for them, nor declared them fair game. However, my fox, in my circumstances, qualifies as a nuisance animal. As it is on my own property, no permit required. And...

I do, but chicken fat works "poorly" for sausage. It doesn't harden right, results in a very unpalatable texture sadly.

Need to reduce the goat head count too. Hopefully, a dry cool three day weekend. Though I'm sure the animals are hoping otherwise.

Older duck moved out of the grow out, turkeys have joined the younger ducks in the grow out. Have to clean the turkey's prior cage out in preparation for moving last (chicken) hatch out, then start another incubation. Going to remove another rabbit as well, maybe two - we are capable of...

Pleased with initial coloration on most. Not looking good for little black bird. Maybe not the soft yellow in back. All the others have chipmunk to varying degree and/or wing markings. That's a good sign for them.

Not displeased. Will set another dozen this week, I think. and cull out another half dozen of the older birds. Want to take out two more roosters, and the last three of the silver laced, plus one almost entirely black hen. Then maybe make another go at hatching ducks - but not until AFTER I...

Old fallen timbers. I lay them out around the pond, plant things in front of them, then let the rains wash down sand and clays into them. Helps slow erosion/run off and helps establish new plantings.

Cross posting from my culling thread, but this really belongs here. Walking the electric fence this morning, feels like about 80% humidity, we have storms coming late tonight / early tomorrow, yes I'll be safe thank you for your thoughts. Anyhow, in addition to pulling down branches off the...
