    Small shell-less egg perhaps?

We have a 26 week old Cinnamon Queen pullet that has been laying for a few weeks without any pause for concern. Her first egg was the cutest little fairy egg and all eggs since then have been on the smaller size but perfectly normal. Great egg shells! While our free ranging today, she “laid”...

    Gross poop help!

Thank you, theoldchick. I’ve seen this beforehand, but have never seen poop quite like this so I’d figure I’d ask the greater masses if they had any experience/ideas. Is it safe to assume intestinal lining or could it be cocci?

    Gross poop help!

I ended up taking the poop to our sink and adding water/rinsing it slightly. The water didn’t turn pink/red like I’d expect with blood. But I did find this stringy thing. Is it intestinal lining?

    Gross poop help!

Just came out to the run to check on my chickens. Saw one of my 14 week old girls poop this out. All poops up until this point have looked normal, maybe a lot more watery due to the ridiculous heat where we are. They all free ranged for an hour or two this morning. Thoughts?

Supposed TSC Cinnamon Queen Hen or Roo?

The lack of saddle feathers and smaller comb has me leaning towards hen, but I guess the odd tail and wing feathers throw me for a loop 😂 heck it’s TSC so who knows if she was actually a CQ 🤪

Supposed TSC Cinnamon Queen Hen or Roo?

Okay, y’all - this sweet little love is almost 14 weeks old and has always been smaller than our other girls, and even feathered out much slower (her wing feathers were always drastically shorter and took forever to get her tail feathers in). Even now, her tail feathers look drastically...

    Weird thing on foot?

Thanks for the reply. It’ll be interesting to see if she gets any others!

    Weird thing on foot?

So does that mean there’s a chance her feet/legs will feather out? I assumed since her legs weren’t feathered, she was going to have bare legs. The other Maran’s legs/feet have been feathered since she was a wee thing

    Weird thing on foot?

When I took my almost 4 week old chicks outside today, I noticed that one of my Midnight Majesty Marans has this weird thing growing out of her feet above her toes. She has them on both sides. Could it be a feather growing in? The other Midnight Majesty Maran has feathered feet while she does...

When can I give some snacks?

Good to know. Any vegetables you’d recommend trying first? Anything to def make sure to avoid? Thanks! Is it better to cut things up into smaller pieces too? I’ll def make sure to check for safety of all herbs given.

When can I give some snacks?

I would love to start giving my 3-3.5 week old chicks some snacks, even if it’s just to explore and have fun. They’ve only had organic chick starter and grower feed up until now with some occasional chick grit sprinkled on top (some of them like eating smaller pieces of their pine shavings...

When can I bring chicks outside to explore?

I have 8 chicks of differing breeds that are about 3-3.5 weeks old (brought from TSC on 05/17 the day they arrived so not 100% sure on age). When can I start bringing them outside in a covered pen to explore? They would not be left unattended and it’s fairly predator proof. We are located in SC...

    Having an issue with bedding

I have 8 girls I got last Wednesday from TSC. Today I tried switching from paper towels to pine shavings for the second time. The first time they seemed to get overheated and ended up drinking a ton of water, so I removed the shavings and waited another few days. Today I tried again and the same...

    Cinnamon Queen?

We have two Starlight Green Eggers that look like this, although one of them is so light colored her feathers are almost white (not quite though). The supposed CQs have very clear “chipmunk” lines down their backs. It’s a mystery for sure! They don’t have combs now. When can I expect those to...

    Cinnamon Queen?

Thanks for the reply! They’re super cute. I guess I’m just worried this little love could be a roo, which would be sad since we aren’t allowed to have them in my town supposedly 😭 it’s tail feathers are non-existent in comparison and wing feathers are much shorter compared to the other 6 chicks...

    Cinnamon Queen?

If it is a Cinnamon Queen, what are the odds it’s still a hen? Just seems odd the feathers are sooo different.

    Cinnamon Queen?

I have two chicks I bought from TSC this past Wednesday labeled as Cinnamon Queens. One of them has noticeably more tail feathers (the other still just has a fluffy bum) and much longer wing feathers. I know Cinnamon Queens are sex-linked but would feather growth be this different? Could there...

    Very watery chick poops

Thanks y’all! I really appreciate all the help/input. I wish there were more threads with pictures of baby chick poop like there are adult chicken poop 😂

    Very watery chick poops

I am feeding them Nature’s Best Organic Chick Starter/Grower Crumbles. I had been doing the Sav-a-Chick electrolytes in their nipple feeder and fresh water in the quail waterer, but just removed the electrolytes this morning. A few of them are some tiny pieces of pine shavings when I added some...
