Not all animals are pets, some are just for meat and eggs. It’s not hard to understand, it’s just how people are now, they think their opinion on how others keep their animals is their business.
* For the record, I have my chickens in a 25x50’ run with every sort of predator protection...
I’m working with a local organic mill called Freewing Farms here in Texas that is doing a custom quail crumble mix for me and is about to start offering it to the public.
Looks like the “new” Zombie Chicken. There are a few threads about them on here I ran across while researching what a breeder I was talking to about AC chicks yesterday brought up when he said he was going to try breeding Zombies.
I can’t afford the true AC but I’d pay $30-50 a bird for clean black chicks from clean black breeders. The problem arises in getting to that point. Greenfire Farms supposedly has true AC line and they aren’t cheap but definitely not thousands of dollars.
This is such a general statement it’s hard to believe it to be remotely accurate. Sure there are probably a bunch of black chickens there people try to peddle as pure Ayam Cemani but I bet 99% are nowhere close. The true AC are nearly impossible to find let alone “not much more expensive than...
I have over $3500 in my 8x20’ coop and run with 15 nest boxes. Probably about $2k in the coop itself. All deck screws, no nails, hardi siding and trim and a metal roof. I guess it depends how much you like chickens!
Amazing how something like that would happen with a vaccine for a virus that is supposedly only a year old and the vaccine was rushed through straight to human clinical guinea pigs...
I have opened the tops and let my girls mow the greens to nothing, till the soil then replanted three times already. The clover likes this more mild weather, it’s keeping uo with the oats.
I didn’t check to see where you live! I’m in south Texas. Raccoons will kill for fun and skunks will just eat the heads off. I’ve killed both after they killed hens then fixed the area they were digging in under my coop to get into the run.
About twice a week one of my hens lays a double yolk egg but this one is not long like the double yolks, it’s a perfect egg shape. I weighed an average egg at 2.75oz and this one was 3.75oz. My hand is not small!
