    Do you cross borders?

Whenever going to Canada, before I had chickens, I've always been asked if I visited a farm in the US recently. The answer was generally no, but I wanted to know how that might change now that I have a flock right in my backyard. Not that I have any plans right now, but for general info I want...

Not a sale thread. Question about pricing.

I have an AC hen nearly laying that I have a buyer for. She was a quasi-rescue, and she has crooked toe on 1 foot. It does not affect her behavior, and she Roosts just fine. I don’t want to overcharge on the rehoming fee, but I don’t want to lose out either. Anyone knowledgeable on the rehoming...

Mixed ages. Posted before, hoping for more decisive feedback now that they are older. CLB looks like a roo to me, and I think RIR is a pullet. No idea on the all black one. Is it AC or SH? And if anyone could give me an estimate on age that would be great too. And please don’t ask about what...

Incorporating new birds, is this progress?

I finally incorporated these four white rocks this morning. They’ve been in view of each other for about two months now, but my Rhode Island red still consistently picks on them and has them cowering in the corner underneath the henhouse. There’s no blood or feather damage to what I can tell...

    Soldier fly in IL?

I've been trying to find info on raising black soldier flies, and people seem to be saying they come on their own. Is this true everywhere? I live in Chicago, and I can't seem to find out if there is a local population. Also, If anyone has extra tips for attracting them, that would be great.

    Is my brooder hot enough?

My 1 1/2 to 2 week old chicks are pretty active when awake and feeding, but like to huddle when napping. I read up on signs if your brooder is the right temp, but this seems in between. Is this OK?
