They have a website and I've contacted them regarding a respiratory panel, but I was just looking for any reviews from people who have actually used them.
Does anyone have any feedback to give on the Zoologix privately owned lab in California? I'm looking into sending some samples to them so I can test for respiratory illnesses in my flock.
Thanks!
I have 2 Pilgrim goslings ordered for the end of April, that I will be picking up from a hatchery. I believe this place imports them from another source. It's not my first time raising goslings as I already have a few adult geese, however it will be my first time integrating youngsters with...
I really didn't notice any excessive amounts of fat. They are on a balanced 18% layer feed and get some whole grains once per day. They have access to the outside where there's lots of gravel, sand etc. But I also thought that large accumulation of grains in her crop was not good. I agree, the...
I didn't notice any abnormal poops beforehand. The ones I did see while she was sick were very small and watery, but no yellow. A bit more green than usual. The last poop I saw her pass the day she died, shot out and looked like mostly pure water.

Looking for insight from anyone who may have knowledge to share! My favorite little hen (9 month old Orpington) died on Monday night and I attempted a basic necropsy (my first time).
Her symptoms: 3 days before death she seemed slightly less active first thing in the morning...
Thanks so much for your thoughts and help here. On Tuesday morning we got the bloodwork back and everything was in line with what had appeared to be a liver mass on the x rays. His liver function was completely shot. No elevated white blood cells either so no evidence of infections or things to...
Thanks for your replies! That's an interesting thought. It is tough to find vets that will work on geese, and especially in these covid times, where you can't even go into the vet office with your pet for the exam. I sort of assumed that any worms or suspicion of them would have come up on the...
No, he hasn't had any kind of dewormer or anything. Bacteria or parasites were one of my first thoughts but the vet didn't say anything about that yet. I would also kind of assume that any wormy-ness would be accompanied by more appetite, but he went off food pretty suddenly. 🤷🏼♀️
This might be a long shot but worth a post. I have a 4 year old gander, who just over a week ago went off all feed, but drinking water and eating some dirt. Subsequently, he's lost a lot of weight now and fairly lethargic but still walking around. He seems somewhat interested in food at times...
Another Thor! Too funny! Well my Thor certainly lived up to his name- he's quite a beast! 😂
Thank you for this great advice! I was thinking it's probably best to have them near eachother but not in the same pen for the first while 👍
So I'm looking into finally getting another goose, to keep with one of my ganders. I currently have 2 ganders and 2 geese. The one gander (Thor) I've had separated from the other male and females for over a year due to him being extremely agressive, especially in spring/summer. My other gander...
It would definitely be a person that I know well, they are my babies, so I have to really trust someone to take care of them :) That's a good idea though, I will have to try this with the person having some kind of protection object to prevent any nasty behavior!
Yes, I basically need to be able to have someone go in and let them out of their house in the morning, clean their house up, feed, put them in at night, etc. Without being attacked LOL.
Anytime I have tried bringing a new person around, my one gander in particular gets rather nasty and...
Does anyone have any tips or tricks on getting a small flock to accept new people? I suppose this is the worst time of year to even attempt, but my flock of 2 ganders and 2 geese are incredibly particular and pretty much only let myself, my husband and my dad in their yard (they're mostly...
Hi all, hope that I'm posting this in the right place....this morning I have a gander who is regurgitating water and a bit of food. He keeps trying to drink however, and then regurgitates it back up a while after. I'm wondering if there could be an issue with his crop?? I'm not sure how to help...
It's crazy what they will shove down their throats! I'm especially paranoid when it comes to this particular goose, as he has also just gone through a partial wing amputation after a run in with a truck on the hwy. He's a very lucky and precious boy....and now an expensive one!
