    Solved posts out of order

BYC is broken. doesn't matter who posts this morning, their post get's randomly stuck somewhere in the thread. For example, I just posted in Debby's thread and my post was placed before 6:45 yesterday. This appears to be happening consistently across all threads.

    Veterans Day Greeting

To all of my Brothers and Sisters in Arms, I hope today was a great day as well as a day of remembrance. I'm thrilled that you've found the fun in poultry.

    Sexing Barred birds at hatch

I'm told that Barred birds (mine are Hollands) can be sexed at hatch. Can anyone point me to something I can read to figure this out? They all look alike to me.

Folks with Pigs, I need quick help

One of my pot bellies gave birth a few days ago. Today she rejected the piglets. She or the others killed two and I have the lone survivor in the house. With my last litter I didn't have to do anything and she was a great mom. Is there a special nipple I need? What type of colostrum can I...

    The Grand Experiment

How do I start this? I've raised Cobb, Ross, and unknown strains of CX. The problem is there's too many variables between each. So here's the experiment. In past experiments I've found that I get a better carcass size with feeding all they can eat in 45 minutes with a mortality rate of less...

    Tyler Florence Fried Chicken Recipe?

Has anyone ever tried Tyler's Fried chicken recipe with a 6 month - year old cockerel? I'm wondering if by slow cooking it first, if it will soften the skin and tenderize the meat? I hate the thought of wasting perfectly good roaster, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has ever tried it and what...

    Rose Comb Rhode Island Whites

Got a dumb question for you genetics experts... One of my Rhode Island Whites turned out to be a single comb bird. The rest are all rose comb. Is the single comb a recessive gene? My selected birds for breeding are all rose comb and are the best of my flock, do I need to watch for more...

What kind of bird sounds more like a bull frog?

I didn't get a look at it as it was behind a tree--but I had a large crow taking off who made a u-turn and ran behind one of my shelters when it was encountered. We have a couple of different types of haws, we have barn owls and great horned owls--but I've never heard this sound before and I've...

    Rare Extra Chick

Folks, I got this one from McMurray, the packing list called it a "Rare Extra Chick" he/she is one week old has a yellow under belly and neck with what appears to be black on the back and barring on the wings. This is the best I could do for a pick after about 30 tries. BTW she moves really...

Help! Baby Turkey got caught under the shelter as it moved

One of my Narragansett Turkey's got her leg caught under the shelter as we moved it. I don't feel any broken bones in leg or wing. She flailed a lot trying to get free and now has a lot of lost feathers near her wing joints and some minor skin abrasions. I've moved her to the hospital and...
