OK for anybody trying to find out about fowl pox. I just got off the phone with the company that makes the vaccine.they said there is no egg withdrawal on a vaccinated bird. That on older chickens u need to vaccinate at least once a year with poxine usually around molt. With younger birds...
Yes its fowl pox but it just has to run its course nothing u can do but keep giving antibiotics to help fight off secondary infections while their immune system is weak.
Can I vaccinate my 2 yr old hens for fowl pox. And also does bleach kill the virus in the coop I know it won't work on the dirt in the run but I have lime for that.
Are they scabs or just bumps fowl pox will be blackish colored scabs.mine had both forms dry and wet some of them didn't have bumps either but that's exactly what mine was doing. Do they have spots in their mouth.
Silkies... Sounds like wet pox mine had it the only thing u can do is keep water clean and try to keep their immune system up I gave mine antibiotics in the water other than that it just has to run its course.it was easier for mine to eat if I put water in their food and made a mash out of it.
My flock had pox and I didn't want to take a chance with breeding and selling any of them so I gave them to my mother in law and they will now be a closed flock. My question is what do I use to disinfect my coop and run before I put my new chicks in it.
