Hi Becky,
If you have a large bedroom closet, you may want to set the bator in it. Then you can get an inexpensive childs vaporizor (without using the vicks medicine), and add plain water to get a humid mist going. I had to do that myself even thought I am in humid country also. It worked...
Ok, wow, I had no idea! So next question is...how do people keep the birds feathers good looking for showing a bird? If my roosters tail feathers are ratty from age and he has not molted, then how to get him looking real nice?
I want to show my rooster and he looked so good a month or so ago...
I have read all over about a hen or pullet molting, and it gives them a break from reproducing etc. I want to know if roosters do too?
My rooster has some crummy looking tail feathers and I want to know if he will replace his feathers. How do they replace worn out scraggly feathers?
thnks:)
There's hope yet. My relative had a cat that disappeared for about 5 weeks. He went through the whole process: putting up signs, asking neighbors, driving the area, animal shelters, then finally grieving for his cat. It turned up about 5 weeks later, very bedraggled, been in fights, missing fur...
By the way Dzzzyd,
I noticed the cinderblocks at the base of your coop. I also had them at the base of mine instead of burying the wire. The dog pulled the bricks away (at the gate area) like they were nothing to him. You may want to fill them with concrete or mortar to make them hard to pull...
Question:
If a neighbors' dog broke off a chain and came to your yard and killed chickens (not ate them-but killed and bloodied them), would that dog continue to do whatever it could to break away again and again to come back for more "free" chicken meals?
Here's some info-seems they are kinda rare in the USA

Hi all, Eggs in turner should be pointy end down-wide end up. On day 18 remove the turner, lay eggs on sides-they will be fine.
My little giant still air w/no turner had temp fluctuations between 98 degrees and 102. I had every egg out of 18 hatch with the exception of the last 2 silkies-they...
i meant to ask too, can ducks have apple vineger? And if so, how much, and what does it do for them? Will it help a cold? Ive read alot about sugar water for chickens, what does that do and should you give it to a sick duck, and how much sugar?
My duck seems to move around alot, just had a...
hi, one of my ducklings has wry neck or twisted neck. I read here on this site that medicated chick starter is not good becuase it contains too much medication and not enough niacin for ducks. My uneducated feed store guy does not carry non medicated gamebird starter, so we have been feeding med...

i think it is a mallard. the feed store guy said it was a mallard but he has been wrong beofre when we got chicks. it sounds like you have a nice setup for yours. I am going to switch my ducks out of the cage today. i built an outdoor pen with the harware cloth and one end is a covered shelter...
wow the feed store guy told me the medication chick food was ok for the ducks too. My mom even asked them to make sure. now i am afraid to use the food.
I can probably get a plastic bin instead of the cage i have. Should the ducks be in the plastic bin or in the cage? the cage is about 2 and...
