    I’m ready to learn!!

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad to have you here! I'm sorry about the bobcat and about your chicken who isn't doing well. Best of luck with her. I hope she feels better soon.

    Delaware chicken weird behavior?

You might want to check them for mites. I've been dealing with an awful mite infestation and I've noticed an increase in soft eggs and thin-shelled eggs. The mites basically take all the energy (and vital nutrients) that they would normally be using to form eggs, and thin or soft shells means...

Help! 2.5 year old isa brown is laying a soft egg with no shell followed by laying a normal egg.

It's hard to say without a more thorough examination (including, possibly, vet tests which are not always accessible). It could be something as simple as her not actually eating the provided supplements despite them being offered, her body not processing them properly, the supplements not being...

    Weird crop problems

Does it feel full of liquid? Or does it feel like it might be full of material still? Or neither of those? I've had a bird that didn't really smell but still got better after treatment for yeast (disclaimer that her issue was not specifically crop related, though). I've also had one that did...

    Northern Fowl Mites 😡

Currently battling a northern fowl mite infestation. It has been too cold to clean the coop and run (nothing would have dried and it would have been bad), but now that things are warming up, this is something that is going to be done, along with giving each bird a bath. I have Bronco Fly Spray...

Mint, the scourge of the garden

It's definitely worth a try! It might be worth tossing a handful of treats in to encourage them to scratch, as well.

    Ney here

Hello and welcome to BYC! Glad to have you here! Being a host home provider sounds really cool to me, as someone who used to want to work in that field in some way as a career (life didn't turn out that way, but it is still a passion of mine). Best of luck with your plans!

What does cocidiosis actually look like?

This is normal for chickens. They will try to do their usual thing unless they physically cannot. Being prey animals, they are driven to hide any illness and injury.

What does cocidiosis actually look like?

Vomiting is not normal for chickens - she could have/be developing sour crop or an impacted crop. You can feel her crop now and then again in the morning before she has eaten - you want to make sure that her crop is emptying overnight, and that it isn't soft and squishy or extremely firm. That...

What does cocidiosis actually look like?

I have a chicken with chronic water belly (not really sure why, but the milk thistle and dandelion root helps her, thankfully). She is noticeably swollen if I put my hand underneath her (between her legs and a little bit back as well), even without being compared to other chickens, but if you...
