Pros: Three levels: High, Medium, Low
No Auto Shut-off
Water Resistant
Cons: The cover material is terrible
I used this heat pad to build the Momma Heat Cave for my 2019 Spring Ducklings and it worked great! Ducklings were calmly sleeping in the night, active during the day and grew like weeds.

Pros: It had a removable cover, so I made several covers to use in my brooder out of scrap material. The pad did not have an auto shut off.
Cons: none
I was able to use this heating pad in my brooder to make a Heating Pad Mama. I will never use the hot red lights again, this worked perfectly. Chicks would run under the wire frame to warm up when they needed to. I made the HPM with the heating pad on top of a wire frame and covered with a towel. My chicks are now 7 & 8 weeks old and are doing great!

We did the exact same thing when we got our chicks. We originally purchased a heat light but it got way too hot. My husband found the instructions for making a Heating Pad Mama. The article he read actually suggested using a flannel-lined plastic tablecloth. I had an old one that I cut down to size, and covered the heating pad and wireframe and it worked so well. The heat light went back to the store and I have this heating pad put away and ready for the next batch of chicks we may/may not get :D
