Pros: Curious, good layers, good foragers
Cons: Roosters can be aggressive to other breeds, hide eggs
The Queen Silvia chicken was developed by Swedish geneticist Martin Silverudd to honor Sweden's longest reigning queen, Silvia. These are medium size, athletic chickens, who lay large amounts of pinkish-tan eggs. They are very curious and have to investigate any new thing in their area. The roosters are average size. They are very good foragers and fliers. They will hide eggs in out of the way places and seem to prefer laying outside to in an egg box. These are hardy chickens, but can be flighty when in a group.
