Polish

Pros: Hardy, friendly, easy care, decent layers of big white eggs, plus they make me laugh!
Cons: They will roost in trees if given the opportunity, but keep them safe in a coop at night.
If you have to build a separate coop in order to keep Polish, get busy because they are better entertainment than TV. Love all the beautiful colors, and my roosters are so nice I never worry about them being aggressive with anyone. Great birds for kids, and everyone that sees them here on the farm wants one or more!:)

Pros: Great dual purpose birds, very pretty, come in Light, Dark and Buff varieties
Cons: Since they are large, they eat a lot
A wonderful breed for a back yard flock! I had a Light Brahma that followed me like a puppy. Good layers of big brown eggs. Occasionally broody, they are good mothers.
Pros: Calm, friendly, attractive birds in a rainbow of colors, lay tinted eggs
Cons: A great deal of variablity in the type
Kids love collecting eggs already colored out of the nest! I do too. Mine lay pastel blue or green eggs. Curious and friendly, fun to have around.

Pros: Decent layers, lovely to look at, wonderful selection of colors, great moms
Cons: Do not tolerate heat or cold extremes well. Cannot fly
Everyone needs ,a silkie or twenty... Great for kids, ladies love them. I sell lots of these, both eggs and chicks from the farm (local only, no shipping chicks).I have a pen of whites, one of blue, black and splash, and one with buff and red silkies. Hatching lots of splash lately, way cute!
Pros: Good layers, nice size for dual purpose. Lovely beetle green sheen to feathers. Can be broody occasionally.
Cons: I only have Blacks, other colors would be cool
Good personalities, great foragers, lay big brown eggs regularly. People keep coming back for more, they love these!
