Pros: slide locking lid, hang/ground use, small size
Cons: none that I have found so far
I really prefer feeders with lids to keep chickens from perching as well as keep rodents out of the storage bin cylinder of the feeder. Unfortunately feeders with close fitting lids (as opposed to lids that sit above a wire handle) are difficult to find in smaller sizes - particularly in hanging versions. This one has been terrific. The lid locks into place by fitting it into the notches on the cylinder and turning the lid. Hangs from the center of the lid rather than from a wire handle, making it more stable while hanging, even when the hook it is hanging from is not level - like a chicken tractor when it is sitting on uneven ground. It solved my problem with growing chicks knocking it over in the brooder and wasting feed in the brooder bedding. Also decreased my poopy food problem since I was able to get it up higher as the chicks grew. The small size lets it fit easily into a brooder or a small coop.
Pros: size - big enough for group but small enough for smaller coop if needed, has a decent lid!
Cons: getting spring adjusted "just right" for feed flow takes some getting used to
Tried some other feeders to feed multiple birds - like this one the best for the size of feed ( I didn't need to put 20 lbs of feed out for small groups of chickens). It has a lid you can get (rare enough) and the lid is fairly close fitting and does a better job of keeping things out of the feed storage and keeping chickens from perching on it. The trough is a more rigid plastic which seems to keep the balance better and not prone to tipping when you have it close to the ground for smaller birds to eat out of. Will be getting more of these.
Pros: close fitting, small hole just big enough for rope to pass through, angled to discourage perching
Cons: doesn't fit tightly/lock into place
Tried a different feeder with lid that turned out to be a "one size fits all" lid and merely sits on the top of the feeder - and I had a daring chicken perch on it :/

This lid sits right down on the feeder (as long as you have the correct size/brand feeder), and doesn't flop around. It covers nicely and leaves just enough room in the hole at the top to run your hanging cord through the top. For the size of the feeder - this is the best that I've found for a feeder/lid system.
