Regarding the vetericyn, do you spray and wrap it or just give it a good coating and send them on their way? @azygous @Lillith37 p.s. Definitely will go to vet before debriding on my own (for safety and the "gross factor")

Okay. Great information. Thank you. I don't have any of the products mentioned above. I did put triple antibiotic ointment on it and wrapped it, then put her in the coop so she didn't get it all gross. I'll check in the am and will order the above mentioned products. Either I'll use them on...

We just soaked it in epsom salt (I figured no harm in it). Afterward I took this picture. There does appear to be a little brown spot. Is that the beginning of bumble foot? It definitely does not look like her other foot. I included a video of her limp :( @azygous @NatJ

I've been reading, and think it is likely bumblefoot. But if there is no scab, do I still treat it by soaking, making a cut, and draining?

Any opinions on doing a mix of hemp and pine shavings? I'm just thinking I'd like to get deeper bedding but don't want to take on to cost of using only hemp. Thoughts?? I will try to get things as dry as I can before putting any new bedding in.

My husband had mentioned drilling small holes in the floor to help things dry out more. Does that sound crazy? Right now things are very wet outside and Baltimore is typically pretty humid.

I have a coop that usually stays very dry and has good ventilation. Lately we've had snow, rain and a lot of humidity. We do deep litter in the coop with pine shavings and usually can manage smell by maintaining a wet/dry balance. The floor of the coop is wood, which I only learned afterwards...
