• Hatched out 7 olive egger babies (BC1) today! Looks like there’s one more about to zip. They’re not sex-linked but they are wild type and I’m thinking I *may* have gotten lucky with only one boy this time (as opposed to only one girl in my first generation).

    This looked like a boy to me last night but I’ll take a better look when I put him out with the others in a bit. This one would be most useful as a potential homozygous blue egg shell carrier, but I could stand to darken up the brown genes before I keep any males. This is (Welsummer x Legbar) x Legbar. The other boys are the F1 x Welsummer so no chance of homo blue there.

    My F1 girl just started laying and they’re not very dark green so I’m not confident that my F1 boy I kept back has much brown going for him based on what his sister is laying.
