7 week old chick with leg issues

I see. As she gets older and larger I have noticed the problem worsening, to the point where she has quite a difficult time walking I am beginning to think about euthanasia, as I don’t think she will be able to walk in the future. Any thoughts? Any recommendations for how to go about this? I...

7 week old chick with leg issues

Oh no :( Although as a chick she seemed to have perfectly normal legs, so is this something that could develop as she ages? It seems like if it were a deformity it would have been present since day one. Any thoughts?

7 week old chick with leg issues

I have a group of 7 week old chicks that have recently moved outside (it’s really hot here so the temperatures are okay). I had some issues with splayed leg in the past but by this point they were all looking healthy. About a week ago we noticed that one chick had some leg issues. Unfortunately...

Having trouble with chicks that have splayed leg

Hello, I have 6 ~2.5 week old chicks, with 3 breed total in a brooder. I have 2 lavender Orpington in the mix, which both looked and seemed perfectly healthy when I got them, but a few days ago I noticed they were both having some trouble standing and walking. I did a little research, and I...

    Keeping California quail in groups

When you say separate them into their breeding groups, does that mean I could keep them in the aviary until breeding season and then separate them into their breeding pairs or trios?

    Keeping California quail in groups

I would love to get some California valley quail, but I had a few questions first. Could they be kept in a larger flock in an aviary? If so, would they be able to breed in there or do they need to be separated for that? Thanks in advance. Side note- does anyone know if they count as game birds...

    Breeds of quail for colonies

I kinda just want birds cause I like them. Eggs would be nice, but by no means a dealbreaker as I already have chickens for that. I am not personally a fan of butchering and processing birds, so I would avoid that although I am okay with selling live meat birds. Other than that, I just want...

    Breeds of quail for colonies

I would like to get in to breeding quail, and possibly make some money (although I am aware that will be difficult backyard breeding on a small scale.) I was wondering what breeds of quail I could keep in a large group in an aviary to breed. Is this possible with anything besides coturnix? I...

What’s the difference between all the Orpington breeds?

I haven’t fully decided yet, but so far I’m thinking some buff and lavender chicks. I will probably have to but then online unless one of my local feed stores has them, so we will see where I end up getting them from

What’s the difference between all the Orpington breeds?

Are all the Orpington breeds the same in terms of egg laying? I plan on getting some new chicks soon, and I really like Orpingtons. I know that both the buff and lavender Orpingtons are good egg layers, but what about the rest?
