  • We're at 3 weeks now and the broilers are show good weight and plenty of heat coming off of them. It's time to reduce food to 12 hours. I'm going to try cracked corn before bed. We're looking at a hard freeze soon.

We started using the coop as an outside brooder and it worked very well.

We are raising 17 hens with one rooster. A barnyard mix of barred rocks, rode island reds, and silver laced wyandottes. Also raising broilers at about 12 per run, using a mobile butchering processing system in conjunction with other homesteaders for networking. Operating in SW Missouri on a work for food trade system.
