Review by 'Almost Broke' in article 'Some Praise for a Cheap Chicken Coop'

Never underestimate the value of good paint, or in this case polyurethane. Time and weather is the enemy of wood. A good method of moving small coops without wheels is the old log roller method. With a modern twist. PVC pipes slipped under the frame, work very well.

The dimensions are 45" x 93" for the frame so that the roof would overhang a bit and I could use 8' 1x4's for the roof slats. The new height at the peak is 6' When I originally built the coop, I was in the process of selling my house and I knew that I would be moving to a larger, more rural...

Gypsy Wagon Chicken Coop | Update

I have noticed that the plans for this are no longer on the TS web site. That is a shame because they were very detailed. I will add some more of the build pictures so that someone with skills can duplicate the build. I do not remember the dimensions. I used 3/4" pressure treated plywood for...

    Monica's house rebuild

About 20 years ago I built a small chicken coop. I copied the one found here. https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/monicas-chicken-house.47787/ The fellow who built it had a blog with exact measurements which I followed. I used hardware cloth wire and metal roofing. It worked very well as...

    Monica's Chicken House

It's 8'x4' I built it about 19 years ago. The plans used to be on the fellows blog. But that's long gone. I am in the process of rebuilding it because the base/legs rotted. I tipped it over and am replacing the base. The rest of the structure is as strong as the day it was built. I used metal...

Review by 'Almost Broke' in article 'Monicas Chicken House'

19 years ago I built a Monica's chicken house. It's 4'x8' I used metal roofing and hardware cloth wire. The wood was not pressure treated so after about ten years the bottom got a bit saggy. I am in the process of repairing it. It is a sturdy build. It has served me well as a grow out pen.

    Rate My Duckhouse!

Love your duck house! I keep looking for the perfect duck house design. I just may have to borrow your design. I especially like the back porch with the swimming pool. Did you use a mortar mixing box? That is what I use but having it recessed in a deck is a great idea.

I built a little coop for a grand daughter who has a new interest in chickens. I was inspired by a gypsy wagon coop on The Tractor Supply web site.

    Gypsy Wagon Chicken Coop

My 10 year old grand daughter fell in love with her Uncle's chickens and began begging her Dad for a coop. Her dad, my son, works long hours and didn't see a way to be able to do it. I volunteered to build the coop. I tried to make it as kid friendly as I could. I incorporated several features...

This guy's system of training a dog really works! http://www.canterlc.com/StopChickenKillerDogs/blog/ My daughter and children plus one dog moved in with me. The dog killed several of my free range hens before I put my foot down. The dog was destined to be re-homed. As a last ditch effort to...

post your chicken coop pictures here!

This post is a reply to a question from page 179, but I am busy slogging through the whole thread It will be a miracle if the person who asked to see a rabbit/chicken condo gets to see this. But here goes. Not the best pics. The chicken coop is 3'x4'. It has old wagon wheels just in case it...

    sexing turkey poults

I raise slate turkeys. I would not bet money on anyone's ability to sex turkeys other than vent sexing. I am not knowledgeable on that. I have sold young hens, so I thought, only to have the person bring back a gobbling Tom. Listen to them "talk" when they are happy. The girls have a louder...
