I use the Deep Litter Method every winter and this article did an excellent job explaining how it all works. I even learned some new things about it that I want to try this winter. The list of pros and cons was also very helpful in explaining things and added a great touch to this article.

Not a bad overview, exactly, but it fails to distinguish clearly between Deep Bedding, a dry, non-composting system, and Deep Litter, a moist, composting system. Though excessive moisture was mentioned in the drawbacks it was not made clear that the composting action requires some level of moisture.

Nor was the fact that Deep Litter works better on a dirt floor mentioned or that it's very difficult to get the composting action going without that ground contact.
