Simple, effective, DIY no-waste feeder

Now I know what to do with the cat litter buckets I've been saving!
Great idea! I used a flexible cutting board or piece of sheet metal to slide in to cover the openings so night time critters can't get in. Brilliant idea! Thanks so much for the idea.
Easy idea.
Solve the problem of flinging food! Great idea.
Well written article and great instructions! I'm thinking of trying one of these - reason- feed around my currant feeders drawing rats.... I steep my feed, but I think this design may allow for that!

I've been reading and rejecting all the ads/articles that use PVC pipe access ports because I have chickens in a lot of different sizes. This looks like a great solution to end my waste problems and provide easy access for all my birds. Thank you!

The directions and photos were easy to follow along and the cost to make would be minimal.

We’ve been using the feeder for about half a month and there has been almost zero food waste or spillage. I would say that it is an incredible improvement to almost 70-80% spillage from the old feeder to basically 1% spillage NO JOKE. You should definitely try it out! As for changes, I kind of modified mine from the original, like I didn’t do the openings as tall I did them a bit more wide so that two birds can eat from one access hole at once, so with mine, four birds could eat at once instead of two.
