Article was ok on pointing out what to look at as far as a LGD, but didn't say anything on how to train. The sentences were also too long.

As a professional dog trainer, 25+ years, I love a high drive dog. My dogs don’t kill my chickens bc they know they are my chickens. They don’t kill my cats, goats, pig bc they are mine. Any other interlopers watch out. That being said, I trained them to know and I watch their moods, and I don’t let more than one at a time if I’m not there.
Most people need/want a much lower drive, so I agree with this author. We can encourage drive much easier than trying to channel too much. Genetics ARE important, not just how you raise one. A 6 mth to 2 yr old dog will also express its full drive to a beginner much easier than a beginner will determine drive in a pup. (If you aren’t a beginner, then you don’t need my advice
). Breed is less important than the actual dog in front of you. I like how this author takes into consideration the agility and differences in peoples situations. A good solid article.
