This is really important topic so good call for starting the article. I think it needs more detail even though it's good that you have an actual picture of the issue. Even google has alot more to say about causes and mitigations so add more detail and pics to improve it as it's a great start. Also, be careful at suggesting to pull on the poo, add cautions around this so that it is not confused with umbilical cord.

Is this inside a home? I feel like the red heat lamp could roll off and start a fire if that is carpet? More details could calm my nerves however and the artwork from kiddo's enjoying baby chick raising is adorable.
I actually love this brooder. I'm very partial to creative upcycling and DIY inventions. This is not only super cute looking, but it looks very functional. More detail would be great, thus 1 missing star but that's considering all readers. For me, the pictures are enough to understand how it was done. I know it's an oldie, but this is a goodie!!
This is one my super fav!! I'm inspired by it add "up" instead of out since I'm constantly expanding my own coop. It'd be so fun if you checked into BYC sometime to show how it's held up.
5 stars for Coop, Ran and Article! I appreciate detail but I don't really want to spend more than 20mins reading time so this was the perfect amount of written detail as well as pics. I love the layout, it's a top notch job and set up! Too bad there hasn't been any updates in a long time, I'd love to see how it looks today.
My opinion is that you don't have to have blueprints, a senior carpenter and big home depot budget, it just takes common sense, determination, research and creativity. Looks to me like you're on the right track and I bet you do continuous improving. I give tons of credit to re-purposing. Thanks for the great explanations.
Bravo! Excellent salvaging and re-purposing and it's groovy! My absolute favorite kind of coops are well thought out, yet not massively funded at home depot! It sounds like you made the whole process fun, instead of a headache and I learned a lot from the article, appreciate you taking the time to share your logic. I think I'm most proud of the low cost that went into my own coop and it just continues to evolve as I acquire interesting scraps. I stare at everything otherwise deemed garbage and ask myself "ORrrrrrr chicken coop?" Glad to see I'm not alone! Hope you're selling pretty piles of eggs and still enjoying the chicken journey. Good for you! I had the same revelation years ago after reading the same Blooie post about Mommy Hut! Such a game changer! I just now put out a post to see if people are still using 100* and sure enough alot are. I'm genuinely not sure what they are worried about, chicks will get cold? I'm way more worried about chicks over-heating. This method solves for that and so much more. It's so much more natural. Bravo!
