I agree with others that this article is superb!
I like the first hand experience the author has & is able to call upon.
I agree that any roo that is human aggressive should be dispatched. They can do too much damage & as the author points out there are always good roos needing homes.
Very informative!

I have a lot of questions after reading this.
Where do I get show quality chickens from?
Do hatcheries other than McMurray cull male chicks?
How do you know hatcheries cull male chicks?
If you are going to say that do you have proof? Granted, there is a lot I don’t know about a lot of things! But I would like more information.
Where else can I get chicks from?
I’m sorry, but I found this article to be vague with the exception of naming one hatchery.
I considered posting this anonymously. But I think if I am going to give one star & question statements in the article I should use my name.

I found this article helpful even though I don’t have quail.
The pictures of how to make, and do things properly are useful for any bird owner. Seeing where the bands go on the legs of the quail would be true for any bird, whether using bands, bandaids…

Oh My Goodness, talk about laughing out loud, my tummy hurts!
This article sure brought back a lot of memories. Her writing abilities are amazing, I could visualize her rooster having a ‘seizure’.
This informative article should be required reading for anyone interested in getting chickens. I had no idea how quickly my first chickens would decimate my Mom’s flower bed. I also thought a one foot decorative fence would keep the hens out of it. Had I read this article first I would have known better.
I wish I could give more than 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I will need to read this again and again. I am going to copy it to access it offline, is that legal?
This information packed article contains not only the ‘what to feed’ it explains the why, with the science behind it.
Learning how words & terms in the UK might have a different meaning in the USA helped me a lot.
There is so much I want to say about the importance of the information in this article, I am at a loss as to where to begin!
Step by step instructions for making feed including pictures. Again, I have to say, understanding why ingredients are used, what the nutritional value is - I think I found the words -
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Required reading whether you make your own feed or not. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

wow! thanks! I'm glad you found it useful.
Wow, I have been very lucky. I have not dealt with any crop issues. I have two 8 year old hens, I will watch for any problems.
I thought I was somewhat knowledgeable, but I wasn’t even aware of impacted or sour crop.
Thank you for explaining everything in enough detail that even I could feel confident treating a hen. The pictures are amazing.

I thought having numerous layers was not in my future. Then ‘Ready’ my stray debeaked (🤬) hen came into my life. My two 8yo hens will not accept her, I have tried everything I knew & read here.
So what does a loving crazy old lady do? Get chicks, obviously 🙄. The chicks are being raised where Ready sees them and they all can eat from one spot with chicks protected.
Goodness, I’m sure taking the long way to get to your fabulous article!
I am going to put curtains on my nesting boxes, so simple, so easy, so awesome :bow

Thank you! I have had chickens for over twenty years and had no idea how many herbs I could have been making available to the ladies. While I knew some, it’s embarrassing just how many I was clueless about. My husband is at the store, I called him to pick up seeds & plants. My ladies are going to be happier and healthier because of this article!!!
