This is a great little set-up! The build is nicely documented through pictures and there is a cost and parts list. The OP even mentions the planning package. Some reviewers mentioned concerns about ventilation, as there was not much visible in pictures or mentioned in the article. However, the sides are constructed of fence panels. The pictures show narrow gaps between each board, so ventilation should not be a major issue in warner climates. For areas with colder winters or very wet conditions, those gaps should be sealed, which would mean adding proper ventilation through windows and vents.
Oh - and another plus ... the tip about cupcakes is definitely worth noting! ;)

Not a lot of "How-To" here, but the pictures give a good visual of what's there ... and what's there is really nice! I particularly like the fact that all doors and floors are at easy-access height, allowing for cleaning and egg-collecting without bending. The nesting bowls and baby monitor are good ideas, too - and the paint scheme is beautiful!

What a great idea for a winter-ready coop! There aren't a lot of details on the build, but dimensions will vary greatly depending on the indoor space you would begin with. The pictures are clear enough to get the concept. I Like!

OhMaGosh! PLEASE give us some more pictures and a close up of that wonderful barn-nest-box! I have a converted playhouse coop, too, and am always looking for interesting upgrades and ideas. With a bit more information, this could be a REALLY good article!

This is a neat idea, although I see it as more of a nesting box or run enhancement than a coop. An explanation on how they were built (and maybe a look inside) and how the biddies use them would be helpful.
Still, it's terribly cute and has started dangerous ideas in my head. I currently have no real nest boxes, mainly because my birds are happy with a big straw-pile in the corner of the coop. After eyeballing these neat little playhouses, I see renovations in my future!

Excellent set-up and great in-progress write-up for the build, so far. I'll be watching for the rest of this as it develops. If the beginnings are this promising, the final product (is there really such a thing?) will be pretty impressive.

Thank you!
You're totally right I think there's always something that can be done to further improve so no "final product" just the updated version lol

Very well done! The video is a bit long, but there is a LOT of information here, so skipping ahead means missing key info ... and some beautiful birds and scenery. Get yourself a cup of coffee/tea/whatever and sit a spell. It's well worth the time!

Thank you! My little ladies love sleeping in there but vacate every morning and love free ranging. I actually sit out with the girls every night. They are so sweet.

This is a nice little coop and run. The manufacturer claims it can hold more, but you are wise to keep it at two. The stones around the base are a good idea, as is placing it under the partial protection of the stairs. These little coops are great starter set-ups, but do need regular maintenance to keep them sturdy and functional. I HIGHLY recommend a wood treatment each Spring to prolong it's life and a sturdy latch on the lift-up nesting box roof to preserve your chickens'!
It's definitely got my interest ... but desperately needs more information and a few more pictures/diagrams ... Please? I'd really like to know more!

A picture of the expansion would add a lot to this article. The pictures inside the coop are good - the space looks clean, open and inviting. Nice set-up!

Clever! I have to admit that I was skeptical about this article, simply because of the title. I mean, how nice can a run made from intact pallets be? Then I saw the pictures .. and was floored! This is an amazingly nice, aesthetically pleasing run!
I have two pallets awaiting deconstruction for my set-up, but after seeing this, I'm adapting them into fencing. To add some predator proofing (and shade,) I'll add some hardware cloth, soil and marigold seeds. Safety, snacks and a bigger run, all in one fell swoop. Thanks!

A chicken coop should be functional, but that doesn't mean you (and your birds) can't have a bit of fun with it! The extras here are mostly small changes, but go a long way toward personalizing the space. I particularly like the solid nest box doors and the "real" windows. The fairy lights are a good idea, too, but I recommend tacking them flush to the walls to keep flutterers from getting tangled up. Beware the extra egg basket, though ... mine became a makeshift nesting box, so I had to move it outside!
Nice Job!

This is a nice set-up for a small backyard flock. The full-front hinged panel is a great addition for easier cleaning, particularly since the coop floor is low for "people-access." The modular build laid out in the photographs is nicely done, as well. Adding a matching section would add the extra run space the OP wishes they'd added. Going up might be an option, as well, allowing for more perches and possibly a platform to give The Ladies a bit more play space. Overall, a nicely done coop!

This is a great project. especially if you have low ground predation (nice job discouraging those pesky owls!) The best part - aside from the low cost and use of materials-on-hand - is the super-easy mobility. It's a great shelter that can be easily adapted to suit a lot of different needs. Bonus points for all the great pics ... and the pretty sunset!

That's not a chicken coop ... That's a Work of ART!
This build is definitely not for the faint of heart, but if you have good carpentry skills, it sure looks worth the effort! Bonus points for the drill video, the sketches and the supply list ... and I absolurtely LOVE the concrete floor with a sand pit in the middle. I am SO "borrowing" the idea for my auxiliary coop!

If you can't put a pony in that horse stall, then chickens are the next logical choice! What a great way to repurpose the extra space - and at a super low out-of-pocket cost. A few extra pics (inside and out) would go a long way towards helping someone else do a similar rebuild. Kudos for your eggsellent reuse/recycle project!

There are some good money-saving ideas here - like converting a ready-made shed instead of building from scratch. I especially like the idea of an over-wide run-door. I wish I'd thought of the width of my wheelbarrow before I'd installed my doors ... it sure would have saved some effort!
