Amazing Chicken DIY Boredom Busters!šŸ“šŸ£šŸ”šŸ¤

Chicken DIYs

In the chicken world there are lots of cool diys for chickens which include a variety of different things and ideas. Chickens are living creatures too, and they deserve love, attention, rewards, and things to keep them busy! DIYs are the perfect solution for this because you can control how they're made and the quality of the supplies. DIYs are fun because you can make them yourself, they are purposeful, and you will likely use it more because its rewarding.

Boredom Busters
Like people (and animals in general), chickens have minds, and are capable of get bored easily. They need something to stimulate their little minds, and boredom busters are perfect!

~Tire Dust Bath

If you know anything about chickens, you know that they use dust baths to basically clean themselves by getting dirty. They bathe in the dust or dirt and it gets rid of all of the bugs or unwanted things on their skin or feathers or to cool down in warm weather. This is a simple DIY where you just simple put an old tire on the ground and fill it with dirt or sand. You can also paint it if you want to add a bit of color to your run.

~Chicken Swing

I personally have experience with this one, and its one of the simplest DIYs you can make. It took me 10-20 minutes to make and offered my chickens about a year of entertainment. Its super simple, get a piece of wood either 1x1, 1x2 or 2x4 or even a branch (the smaller the better, but any of these will work) and then find some rope. Cut the rope into 2 pieces (same size) and rape each one around an end of the wood. Tie the other ends of the rope to a beam or something you can tie the rope to, and BOOM! you have a chicken swing that your chickens will enjoy for a long time to come.

~Cabbage head

If this isn't the simplest chicken DIY, I don't know what is. All you have to do is drill a hole through the cabbage (I'm sure there are simpler ways to do this, but this is what I've done in the past) and put a rope through it. It might only last 5 minutes, but your chickens will definitely appreciate it!

~Plastic Bottle Treats

I've tried this once, and my girls seemed to enjoy it. Its very simple, find an empty water bottle and drill holes in it. Then pour feed into the bottle and close the cap. Lay the bottle on the run floor and shake it a bit so your chickens will know what it is. They should peck and move it around to where the treats fall out and they can eat them.

I live in Texas and we own a herd of cows, 40 chickens, 2 geese, 2 dogs, and 1 stray barn catā€¦ oh, and we just got 5 guinea keets. I love chickens and love teaching people about them. I remember when I first got chickens and I did so much research and thought I new a lot, but looking back I didnā€™t really know that much, especially as much as I know now. Iā€™m continently still learning little things here and there, and now Iā€™m learning about a few other species of poultry as well. I canā€™t imagine my life without my feathery babies and donā€™t know what Iā€™d do without themā€¦ even though a few of them donā€™t love me as much as I love them. :)
