I feel your pain!
I have 3 Silkies that are exactly the same way.
I just gave up, they seem fine and Im confident in there safty with a critter proof fence and a Boxer defense system.
I wouldnt worry to much about it tho, I just put up a Tarp outside for shade and to get out of the rain if they feel like it.

I have 1 Hen that refuses to sleep inside with everyone else. she goes in my barn everynight, and roosts on our ladder. This is actually a step up, as last spring w=she was roosting in a tree every night.

I heard of a similar problem that turned out to be red mites. In "Hen and the art of Chicken maintenance", the author's coop was infested with mites that came out to feed at night.
