I got these 6 quail and would like to know their colors and genders. The green and blue backgrounds are both males (I vent sexed them and white foam came out) but I have no clue on the others. I was told the other 4 were 6 weeks old but when I vent sex them they all show as female. One had poop come out and the others had nothing at all. There is no way I was lucky enough to get 4 females which is what I wanted. I always get stuck with males. 🤣 I heard some are sexable by color. Can you sex any of these by color? I was told the one with the green background is pharaoh color. Is that right and what are the other quails colors? Thanks!

These are male and the two tuxedo ones cannot be feather sexed.

This is not pharaoh. I'm not sure if it would fall under the Rosetta category or not.

Are they mating or crowing or laying yet? If not, maybe give it a week or add a couple “daylight” hours with a light. Male Quail foam more during mating (laying) season.

They aren't laying/crowing yet. I haven't heard any crow. What does their crow sound like? They have plenty of sunlight in their pen.
Their mating season is tied to daylight hours. So if the days are still pretty short where you are, that could be the issue. Adding lights to “extend” the day a bit could help speed things up.

Hi all, please help me out.. i have 2 coturnix quails at 2½weeks old. I have no idea what sex they are. Photos attached.
