What did you do with your flock today?

My 6 new littles from Greenfire Farms 😍

Baby Bea is the first one, a bantam Bielefelder

The second one I believe will be a spangled Orloff. Comb looks cushiony…just not much for a beard!

3rd one is a black Silverrudds Blue. I’m guessing boy…sits very upright and is bigger than everyone else.

4th one is the bantam naked neck…also guessing boy. Likely not keeping if a boy…

5th is a blue Silverrudds Blue! Thinking girl on this one 😍 Mighty name her Bluey after the kids show character. ☺️

And last is the silver spangled Appenzeller Spitzhaben, I might like her the most! She’s very snuggly and loves to cuddle under my chin 😍

They have all pepped up a lot since Sunday so I’m feeling better about their health! They’re eating a lot so I’m super happy about that. So did not need all these babies, but I think it’s good for them that I took them all. Baby Bea was making me very worried on Monday…she was very lethargic, but today she was running around eating and cheeping and drinking and kicking pine shavings all over. Phew! 😄

I also must admit I was missing chick snuggles! 😍

Biscotti says he's getting too old to cuddle babies in the basket anymore. He wants to pop out and explore a bit.View attachment 3723466
But he still gets cold quick. He's decided he likes my neck to warm back up. View attachment 3723467
He's grown so much! And still a real cutie 💓
Funny, isn't it? All my young chicks have loved neck snuggles. I think they must like skin on skin contact like all babies. Ferdy and Stan still like to snuggle in the crook of my neck or under my chin. They don't fit anymore, of course 🤣

Awwww! They are too cute for words 😍😍😍😍
I'm in love with your little naked neck, I've always wanted one! He's a 'Frank' for sure...

They're all so cute! I'm so glad Baby Bea is spunky now ❤️. I'm looking forward to seeing them grow with you... aren't baby cuddles the best? 🥰

Yes!! I love them! 😍.

You know what else never gets old? A new chicken laying an egg! Dora laid the cutest little pullet egg today! 😍😍 She’s just barely 5 months old, this is young for a d’Anver to lay in my experience 😳 Dora is just the cutest 😍

My hens are out of Soldier Flies as of yesterday morning. They have not been shy about holding me accountable for the "Time of Famine" :D Sorry to tell them that the next order is on hold till the next pay day LOL. They'll have to make do with a cabbage for now. (I usually order from Exotic Nutrition. The big bag lasts me about a month - but December put a hurt on my budget, so....poor deprived chickies....)

The goal to do some winter storm prep turned into free range for the remaining day after my sister got home from school. We are expected to get ALOT of snow soon we have maybe 2 inches right now and our geese went crazy flying around honking like crazy lol. Most of the girls took their time coming out but went straight under the trailer nearby and started trying to get up some dirt for a dust bath. I watched our boy Roo come out and stand in the driveway looking very confused and later be following my parents tire tracks down the driveway with the goal of going toward the garden only to stop and stare at the snow field seperating him from their usual brush pile lol

I was out waiting for a customer to make a pick up when I observed one of the White Giant boys dust bathing in a rather deep tub he had dug out for himself. His head and a couple of inches of his back were showing above grade. From out of nowhere came a RIR roo that's at his peak of being strung out hormonal. Just as he got to the big boys tub the big boy stood up showing a lot more of a body than the young punk wanted to take on. The little intruder made a quick exit back to where ever he came from. There is never a dull moment where there are free ranging chickens.
