What did you do with your flock today?

I worked on the run more, played with the girls and tried to get them to figure out the nipple water before I make a large one! Have a 32g food grade trash can to make a big waterer with. Also added a perch. Getting full use out of the kids' play set/house that I've converted

I use 5 gallon buckets remember the lid birds will drown in them..

I thought about that but we get cold winters and I do ski holidays with kiddos so with 12 chickens I didn't think 5gal would last long enough to cover a 4-5 day weekend and heating two would be hard. So big tub. Lol.

Happy Friday everyone! Just wanted to pop in and say hi and spam you with pics of my chickies Today I spent my time with the littles in my bantam run and let the youngest bantam crew venture out of their tiny coop for the day! I also put all my mixed babies in with Cher and Sia. Cher has taken to mothering them very quickly, it’s really adorable . I did a dumb thing and brought home this super pretty EE chick from the feed store and then felt guilty because it was all alone and sad…so I put her in with Cher and she was sleeping under her within hours and it’s adorable . The three mixed mutts have taken to her as well so now she has three new friends and a momma She’s super sweet and loves to be held. I just love her coloring!

Good afternoon! I just came in from sorting out this year's babies into tentative keepers and for sure going birds. One of my neighbors is coming this evening to pick through them and take some home, then Monday I'll be taking some to another friend who wants a few more hens. Its always so hard to decide which to keep! Whatever's left in my "to go" pen I'll put up for sale this year. I've always preferred to give away my unwanted birds, but this year I think I have more then I can give away

The baby sparrow's are almost ready to fledge. They've finally developed a healthy fear response so today I get to set up their weaning cage.

I have a Canary I'll put in with them. They'll be able to watch her and learn how to eat and she won't be scared by my reaching in to feed them. She's a good teacher because she eats such a wide variety of food too. Hopefully they'll learn to be flexible eaters so they have a better chance when they're released.

It is getting warm here.. . boo! Lucky I got a bunch of big fat mangoes to use in a yummy recipe i found and chickens got a nice cool treat to perk them up (and me!) today.

Such a beautiful and tasty fruit. Always a treat.

I had a silver pied peachick hatch last night so today's all about it.

Its a half asleep kinda day for me today, so just enjoying some quiet time indoors.
