I went outside to collect my eggs this morning and I found this egg. It looks almost like a umbilical cord is attached to the eggs. I’ve never seen anything like it. I cracked the egg and even the yolk had what looks like a cord attached to it. Is my hen sick or is there something wrong? She’s been laying for over a year and has never had any issues before now. Also, I know exactly which hen laid it because I have a camera in my coop so I know which hen to treat directly if that’s needed. Thanks in advance!
It is an egg with a membrane partially around it. Your hen may have just had a glitch with her oviduct, or she may be staring to have some problems. I would pay attention to her eggs she lays in the future. They can have some weird eggs with a tail, an egg within an egg, tiny fairy or fart eggs, shell-less eggs!or pass membranes or yolks.
