Welcome to #TeamCrossbeakAmber
This thread is for my Easter Egger (EE) pullet Amber. She has crossbeak.
My favorite picture of Amber that I took today.
Amber was named after Copper-Amber, a troublesome, funny, lovable EE hen I had a few years ago. As a day-old chick, I thought Amber looked just like Copper-Amber did as a chick, so that's why I instantly named her after her. Much to my surprise, Amber would be much different than Copper-Amber in more ways than one. On my way home from buying seven little adorable pullets, I discovered that Amber was Crossbeak.
Amber was noticeably a Crossbeak at a couple of days old.
I was very disappointed about Amber having Crossbeak. I didn't want a Crossbeak chicken, especially one as bad as I knew Amber will be. I didn't want her anymore. In fact, I wished I had noticed her Crossbeak at the store, because I would have left her there. But then, after a while and thinking, I came up with something. If I hadn't ended up with her, who would of? Would anyone else that could have gotten her know anything about Crossbeak and if they did, would they have my same resources and knowledge? After all, Amber is the third noticeable Crossbeak I've owned. Just she's my worst case of Crossbeak.
A picture showing how bad Amber's Crossbeak is.
Amber has been delayed compared to my three other EEs. One of the things she's been delayed in is coming up to me. Within the past week, Amber has been jumping up onto my lap, and will stay there. She now loves being in my lap, which makes it hard when I'm trying to catch my other chicks and she's there. I have discovered that she hates me taking pictures of her. It's so hard to get a good picture of her, and even harder when I'm trying to get a good face shot of her beak.
Amber doesn't like me taking pictures of her.
