I am going to desperately attempt to write down how many of what color I hatched once I get home from work. The chicks do fine without the brooder plate for quite a while, but I feel so bad for the late hatches who aren't as feathered. Fingers crossed I can manage to figure out 30 tiny nuggets.

I'm so pleased with the colors! I love the sheer variety of colors that quail come in, and that a lot of their genetics are co-dominant so you get all sorts of cool pattern/color combos...of course, I then sacrifice the ability to sex them by 4 weeks and have to wait until I see sex-specific behaviors. AND the young roos can be pretty rough on the hens....sigh.

Okay. I have taken photos of every color variation that I think I have. I think one of them looks very different on camera but whatever, I guess.

I'd ask ya'll to please excuse the poop but I think most of us are used to the butt habits of baby birds.

Claim an egg number and choose a name for the chick! I might be at work when these hatch, so no guarantees I'll accurately name the chicks, but I *will* be using all names from eggs that hatch.
