This has happened several times to my peafowl, I'm wondering if anyone has had similar problems. Starts with them being lethargic then the eye becomes inflamed and nasal discharge. Vet prescibed Batril orally and chloramphenicol eye ointment, which has been successful so far but I'm wondering how long before it doesn't work and if I can prevent it happening again. They are completley free range, sleeping up trees or in barn depending on weather with pigeons, hens, gineafowl, ducks and geese.

I am not as familiar with peafowl, but this is definitely a recurring respiratory disease.

Have you looked into Coryza, Mycoplasma, and CRD? I would definitely do some reading on those.

These disease cannot be "cured," unfortunately... only managed, and just about anything can trigger the symptoms to flare up. Once a carrier, always a carrier. :(
