No picture to compete with but one of my girls has just started moulting, just as the snow and ice appeared, poor darling, I think the other 3 are younger.

I dread next year when my hens start molting...I fuss when they lose even one of their beautiful feathers oh dear!

OMG...the bald birds on this thread! I should have gotten a few pics of 2 of my Australorps a few weeks ago. The bald spots were huge. I had to put pinless peepers on a few of my girls to stop the pecking at the skin and blood feathers! It is a wonder these 2 birds stayed warm as we had night time temps of -5 for over a week. It never got above 15 degrees during the day as well. Finally the feathers are growing in!

I hope these birds in this thread have grown in all the feathers by now and are nice and toasty in the coop at night.
