I'm retired and was looking to get back into some time of farming/country life. Didn't want the full package so I decided to do chickens and ducks. Started with 6 standard laying hens of various breeds. I just got my first 3 Serama chicks that were 1-2 days old. Also recently acquired 4 Indian Runner ducks. Now to enjoy the birds and their eggs. No interested in breeding, just a relaxing hobby/

Relaxing and Retiring haven’t been in the same sentence for a long time 😂
I have been retired for 20 years and am seriously busy, busy, busy.
How did I ever have time to work ?
Having said that
my is garden prettier
(somewhere nice to drink in the evenings),
my chicken math has got worse
(or better wink),
our alcohol decreases at a remarkable rate
(shocking)
Enjoy your girlz (and boyz ?) and your retirement ❤️
Hugz

Congrats on retirement! I'm often amazed that some people get bored; for me, it's been a chance to do things I used to talk about wanting to do -- like have more chickens and ducks :D. Oh, and geese, too.

Congrats also on adding runner ducks -- I think they are totally fabulous critters with their unique gait and silly antics.

Welcome to BYC; it's good to meet you!
