Mottled, Splash, Jubilee, Spangled and Speckled?

What is the difference between all of these terms?

I've read on other threads here that Splash is blue and white. Is that correct?

Is Mottled black and white?

My guess for speckled is white 'spots' on a dark background?

Please feel free to correct me, as it was only a guess.

So what are Spangled and Jubilee?

What proportions can the colors be?

You've hit on my favorite color patterns.

"Mottled" (as in cochins) is black -- or sometimes blue -- background with white feathers scattered throughout.

"Speckled" (as in Sussex) is a mahogany background with white feather tips, WITH black coloring between the white and mahogany colors.

"Jubilee" (as in British orpingtons) and "Mille Fleur" (as in D'Uccles), so far as I can tell, are basically the same as speckled but more regularly spaced, and on a lighter background.

"Spangled" (as in Hamburgs) is a white or gold bird with black feather tips.

And you also should review "Splash" (found in many breeds), which is white with scattered blue feathers.

And there's also "Exchequer" (as in Leghorns), which is white with black feathers scattered throughout, but NOT in the same genetic family as splash so far as I know.

There's also Anconas......but right now I don't know what you call their color pattern!

I have BANTAM mille fleur cochins. They JUST started laying, and I have not yet made any plans about whether to sell eggs or chicks or neither. Their first eggs should be going in the bator tomorrow or Friday.

I don't personally know of any standard mille fleur cochins in this country......but that doesn't mean there aren't any.

what their reffered to depends on the breed.. in many game breeds (OEGBs, etc) spangled is like a speckled sussex. mottled and Exchequer is a black bird with white feathers (seen in leghorns and other breeds) (usually spots) through the body, i've only seen one discribed above, jubilee im not sure, as i've only seen one of them that color and that is the cornish, which looks like a red with white lacing (in hens) rooster i cant remember, all the others are pretty much what they are,
