Is this a hernia

About 2 days ago I noticed a lump a few inches under the vent of my barred rock hen, when I hold her with her head angled downward the lump goes into her abdomen, it does not hurt when it is touched. I've had chickens for a good 5 or 6 years and have never seen this.she acts fine and runs around. Any advice would be helpful

Looks like a hernia.

Not much you can do about a hernia on a chicken though. They do have a tendency of bursting, or tearing open if snagged, or due to pressure built up.

I'm not sure, to be honest. I can search, & see if I can find something though.

Thanks I'll look too I've had her since I started raising chickens she's one of my oldest.

Only thing I found was surgery(Veterinary visit) And euthanasia.

I guess as long as she is not in pain she will be ok, but If she starts to become painful I'll have to euthanize

I can do that she already gets a lot of treats

Too many treats is bad, & the extra fat build up may put more strain on her hernia.

Does she like cuddling?
