Please help. I have only one rooster and one hen Potch koekoek together and they have been giving me plenty furtile eggs the last 2 months. The hen's condition is excellent but the rooster looks like he is loosing weight and his thighs are red and slightly bloody today. What can I do? Do I separate the 2 for a while?

Do you have some pictures for us? Bloody legs can have multiple different causes.

How old is he?
How long are his spurs?
Are they free ranging or kept in a run/pen?
What kind of predators live near?

Check their coop for poultry mites and both birds too, for lice also.

And inspect him closely for any hidden wounds.

Some roosters will feed everyting they find to their fabourite hen abstaining to eat themselves and thus getting starved.

Prepare scrambled eggs with fine rolled oats and some millet for him and take him somewhere out of sight and earshot of his hen to eat.

Deworming might help also
