Hip Hillbilly Acres
Crowing
My broody room is empty now because my last brood is now in coop. I keep looking into the room expecting them to be there; but nope, they are growing up and have gone out. This afternoon when I went out to do my chicken chores three of the babies got out (Bielefelders and Neiderrheiners). Seems the others know to stay cool, Mammas coming in TO YOU to give you some food. But those babies came right on out. Of course I did due diligence: I screamed for hubby to come and get them and put them back into the coop.
Later I noticed some of the Bubble Bunch (as I affectionately call them) roosting on a 2 x 4; others were roosting on some clutter I put inside in the form of a broken wood pallet from work; others were just chilling in the coop so I decided to take photos trough the chicken wire, of course. I can never get good ones of Flippy, my black rooster frizzle bantam cochin.
I think my two silkies are pullets though they were a straight run order. I have a green queen but have NO idea which one she is (it is a girl). I see the bieles and neiderrs are up against the coop wall. They are gonna love being free in the next couple of days. Hope they know to come home to roost when it is time.
I added to cups against the coop wall for grit and shell. I have been baking and crushing eggshells for the last several weeks. All that work and there is not much in the bag. Even solicited used egg shells from friends. That's too much work; will just have to purchase the oyster ones I suppose.
