Still it cried ‘Sleep no more!’ to all the house: ‘Glamis hath murder’d sleep, and therefore Cawdor shall sleep no more,—Macbeth shall sleep no more.

Shakespeare: Macbeth

Wondering why the quote of MacBeth ? This house is ‘sleep no more’. I was awoken by the electrical breakers going in the kitchen, then the Generator kicked in - it is at this point I am fully awake. The ‘Geny’ is right outside the house near my bedroom - it’s quite noisy.

Checked the barn cams….

Chooks are good….

And horses also.

Outside looks good, no snow so it isn’t very bright on the outside cams.

Hmmm wonder what’s up with the electricity being out…? It’s not snowy so roads shouldn’t be icy, there are thunderstorms slated for tonight but I haven’t heard any thunder here…. It’s not overly windy - hmmm I wonder what’s up!?
We had very bad thunderstorms last night. It looks like the hail went just to the north of us.

Wake up ladies

Scary! Good job, Aurora.Bob, our resident red shoulder talk has been keeping on eye on my girls as well. In fact, he perched in the walnut tree over the run this weekend when the girls were in the little field OUTSIDE the run. I did my best at the aerial predator alarm call and the girls ran for cover. I kept talking to the hawk loudly and my dog was running around after she heard the call. I ran to the rescue of my slower girls with bad legs and hand carried them to the run. I’m not sure what would’ve happened if my dog hadn’t been running around. I need to replace my Nerf gun. I don’t know why the last one stopped working.
The hawks are my number 1 fear. They are ever present these days. The girls must constantly be on the alert. They are their own best protection. I will not keep them locked in the complex all the time. It is not fair to them.

I will be increasing my netting coverage this weekend. I do now keep them locked in on bad weather days so there is less of a pattern for the hawk to see. I do think the cat helps as well as she is so big and would definitely go after a hawk in the trumpet vine or on the fence. They are going to have to strike from further away now because they can't be sure if Éowyn is there or not.

Hello FBA. I wanted to share my sad news, though most of you who know my chickens may have already read it on my thread. My ex-batt Cannelle, who had not been well since the end of January, died Monday night. She had ascites, and had been having issues that began as a reproductive disorder for a year. It's not a surprise but I feel I have lost a special friend.

Cannelle in December 2022, and the remembrance post I wrote.

I haven't been posting for two weeks and have fallen behind. I don't want to come here just to drop some bad news, so I will be back on for some time- have to catch up before it's my turn to do the synopsis 🤣.

And I have a cute story to share on a more optimistic note- circle of life and all that. It's not about chickens though so I will pay tax 😊. The sheeps came back from spending winter in the plain at the end of January. They are staying in their new mountain shelter for lambing season, so the LGD's were sent back up there with them. The oldest, a Great Pyrenneese called Alice, looked very tired and was staying inside the little goat stable a week before the sheeps arrived. Everyone thought she was isolating to die so they brought her some hay for warmth, food, and left her quiet. But just when the sheeps came back, when they went to see her, they found a surprise - she had given birth to a puppy ! Because there was only one and Alice is so old, it didn't show. It is healthy and growing up fine and Marion and Maxime, the owners, are very happy as usually they are attributed adult LGD'S by the state and they are a lot more difficult to work with than a baby that will grow next to the herd.

Near where the ewes stay to lamb.

I wanted to throw this idea past you peeps. The town opened up a new casino next door to my airport. I have never been inside before. People say that it is a nice place. I’m wondering what the buffet is like and how much it costs $ 🤔
I’m sure they wouldn’t :(let me bring my rooster buddy in with me (the smoke is probably too much for him and probably me too anyway) what do ya think?
First impression: give it a pass.
and while I have no interest in gambling (I don’t see the attraction personally),
Ditto.
I’m not a gambler. I think gambling is a stupid waste of money and time. Like fireworks “poof the money is gone!”
Exactly!! We have so many gambling commercials on TV now, and I find them annoying and offensive.
Our casino no longer has a buffet since covid. It may not have one.
If they have a smoke-free dining room, eh, it might be worth a visit. If the dining room is NOT smoke-free, there is no food on earth that could tempt me. Not even GF chocolate cheese cake.

Tax: Little got up on the hay bale to visit for a few minutes too.
