My loving selkie froze last night; I'm still trying to find out how he escaped.

I hate to be disturbing, but how do you remove the carcass without it tearing in pieces? I've removed dead things before in the snow...but is there an easy way?

So sorry for your loss! I would use hot water to melt the area.

I’m so sorry. Can you scoop up the bird along with the snow around it with a shovel and let it thaw out in a bucket or tub?

Sorry for your loss. I hope you find how he got out of the coop. I always do a head count before closing up my coop every evening. I lost a hen once who didn’t make it into the coop before I locked up, and she stayed out in the rain on a cold night. It is upsetting to lose one like that, but it can make us more careful to help prevent loss in the future.
