Day-old Bantam chick breeds??

Hi all,

I was wondering if you could help me with the breed of these two bantams we picked up today??

So the story starts, we went to the feed store to get some crumbles. The lady had just got in a shipment of bantams, and the hatchery threw in a few extra roos, and one of them was a black, white-crested polish!! He was the only polish, and we just had to get him. So, naturally, he'd need a few extra hens. We got two little bantams, both with feathered feet and what looks like beards.

Their names are Marguerite and Jacqueline (Ever After reference ). Marquerite is silvery-yellow with a yellow head. Jacqueline is mostly black with an orange-brown face and wings.

Marguetite is either buff or white Cochin, and Jacqueline is gold laced Cochin.

Agree with redranger about the gold laced Cochin but I think Marguerite is a porcelain D'Uccle.

Yeah, I though Marguerite might be a d’uccle. I was a little confused with the other. Is it possible that Jacqueline might be a Millie Fleur? (Thank ya’ll for your answers)

Yep. I didn't notice the beard before. I think you are right.

They should be pretty. Remember that most bantams are unsexed, though. Hopefully you get two pullets.

Keep in mind, there is usually a greater than 50/50 chance of getting cockerels when buying straight run.

UPDATE!!

For anyone looking through this thread hoping for comparison pics to help sex your chicks... you’re in luck!! Cause here I am with a big fat update.

Looks like you guys were right, I got a porcelain D’uccle and a Mille fleur D’uccle.

..looks like you guys were even MORE right, Marguerite’s name is now Dude.
