Our Crevecoeur rooster is a funny little thing. He's almost 9 months old and still isn't crowing. I've even caught him sitting in one of the egg nesting boxes. He's flighty and gets picked on by the twelve hens and pullets (nothing bad, they just peck him if he gets too close). He's super human adverse (although not aggressive), hasn't grown spurs yet, and I haven't observed him trying to mate with anyone. Like the female Crevecoeur, he is really quiet.
I know there's a lot of variety with rooster behaviors, but for all you Crevecoeur friends out there, are your roosters generally quiet? We're not zoned for roosters (although some neighbors have them) because we live in a dense suburban neighborhood, although the neighbors have all said they don't mind hearing our birds, possibly because we ply them with lots of eggs lol. I'm crossing my fingers that Archibald aka Peeners is a quiet boy.
I'm attaching a photo of him squaring up and eventually backing down to one of our sassy Black Stars.
Thanks in advance!
