Best place to put coop in yard?

Is there better spots in the yard to put the chicken coop and run? Do they like it sunnier, more shade or a little of both? Most of my yard is shaded by old palm trees and a few big spanish oaks the other third gets sun all day. The shaded side get sun in the evening. It also gets hot in my yard in the summer, even today it pretty warm out there.

In a hot climate (I'm in South MS), I'm a huge fan of having the coop under a tree. My main coop is under a big oak. Hot summers are rough on most breeds of chickens.

Also, personally, I like the coop fairly close to the house. I don't want to have to walk a mile to care for them, and I want to be able to hear/see if there's any kinf of problem.

You should put them half and half because each chicken is different .Also remember that chickens do stink if there coop doesn't have enough space .

I have ducks, they are only in the coop at night so it isn't really an issue for us. They spend most of their day hiding in some bushes by their coop.

Thank you all for the help...I'm thinking that mostly shade with a little sun is the way we're gonna go.

They need to have sun to lay, but if it is hot then they will be fine .
