This is my first time keeping silkies - I only got one white one so I had my fingers crossed that it would end up a pullet, but I think it's showing male traits. Cockerel? Let me know what you think!

He also looks like a rooster to me...we went through this exact situation last year! I bought two, thinking they were both hens and as they grew it was clear they looked very different. The tell tale sign is that pronounced bump above its beak--a pullet wouldn't have that. He should also start to try to crow soon.

What male traits are you seeing? Is it the behaviour that it’s displaying? That comb isn’t gigantic, no streamers in the crest that I can see... hard to see any other details like saddle area and tail in the pics. Some silkies have a more naturally upright posture, too... my cuckoo pullet stands ridiculously tall but she DNA tested as female. I also have a paint silkie that looked similar to your bird around this age (but beardless so she had wattles) and I was sure she was a boy until she laid an egg. Her comb was brighter for weeks before she laid too.

Hi guys - its been almost a month and I'm still not sure. I appreciate everyone's insight thus far.

Leaning male but definitely not good with silkies. Maybe these new/updated close ups can help. It has pretty small wattles but a decent size comb. Seems like streamers but im not exactly sure. Hope this gives me a more definitive answer! No crowing as of yet, nearing 6 mos. old
