Your ducklings are adorable. What breeds are they? That sounds like a big garden. We have been going the other way and downsizing, but still love getting fresh produce.
Congratulations on your first guinea egg. :)
That's a lot of great improvements to your coop. That sounds like quite the winds you get. Hopefully it isn't too much work to fix the tarps.
That's been how it's been going here too in the last few years. I'm down to predator savvy birds or those we lock up at night.
Hatching is always fun. :)
I cannot imagine what your sister is going through. Hopefully it all goes well and she's feeling much better soon.
So very sorry about the loss of some of your birds. That's never easy either. All we can do is our best.
Sorry to hear about all your health issues. I'm glad your daughter was able to take on your chickens and you can still visit them. I have always loved that a chicken sees every single day as the best day ever. Such simple, and beautiful creatures they are. :)
That's quite the climate change from Vermont to New Mexico. Sorry about the end of your chicken keeping. Would be nice to rent a few chickens for the summer. Hope you new adventure goes well. :)
So very sorry about losing your chicken. I'm very glad you were able to help the one that got attacked. Hopefully it heals up quickly.
Being an avian zookeeper sounds amazing. I'm a bit jealous.
Free ranging in a tropical garden sounds like an great life for a chicken. :)
I'm unfortunately familiar with too many predators here too. So sorry you have lost so many. Glad those you have now are earning their keep. We need to check several times during a cold winters day too if we want eggs. I usually end up with a pile of frozen ones.
I'm always willing to encourage someone to get more chickens. What's a few more? :) I started with geese a few years ago and they quickly became my favorite critters. Aren't they funny birds? Loud, but so interactive.
