If it was me I would get rid of him. There is no need to put up when a rooster that is less than " perfect" because there are so many roosters out there and a lot of then are good and won't ever cause problems. I never keep a rooster that has ever caused a problem. I just get rid of it and...
This is very strange. I really don't know what to say. If it happened to me I would probably be trying to gently give her little bits of sugar water. And just keep her warm and comfortable because I wouldn't feel confident that she was dead unless she felt stiff at least at some point. So sorry...
The stiffness usually takes a while to go away. I know that if I was you I would want a little while longer to bury her because I would feel the same way about accidentally burying it alive.
So sorry 🙁 but I am very proud of you for giving this little chick a chance ❤️
So sorry this is happening to you. Just curious what breed are they? A long time ago we hatched some I can't remember the name of the breed they were but they just kept dying. The Other people who had hatched turkeys from the same breed had the same problems. I guess it was bad genetics? Don't...
I feel like if she was dead that she would be quite stiff by now. Dose her body feel very warm. When I had to bring a cough of froze chicks by to life I other them just warmed them back up I very very gently rubbed at them it kind of helps wake them up. But you have to be very careful. I don't...
I've had "dead" chicks that I've had to bring back to life. They got cold and were "dead" at least most people would they that they were but I got a hairdryer and warmed them and in about 15 minutes they were back to running about and were perfectly fine.
Not saying this is what happened to...
#1 looks like a cuckoo maran. #2 looks like one of the faverolles pullets but could also be a blue dorking ( never seen one so don't know ) other two not sure at the moment.. but they are very cute!
If they are panting then they are getting to hot. Didn't you say that you are bringing them inside at night? I don't remember. But they don't need supplemental heat at this point unless it's really cold especially if they are being brought inside at night.
I agree with what everyone else said...
What great chickens! It's always nice to hear of something like that happening. We really need less hawks in this world if you ask me and I am very grateful for every chicken that helps us get closer to achieving that. Glad that your flock wasn't hurt too badly.
Sorry for the late reply. I am going to visit the facility where my little special chicks and ducklings are tomorrow. I will get pictures of them for you and send you some of the records of the temperatures that they can take and are kept at.
I don't have recent pictures on my any of my phones...
Mine don't ever get supplemental heat past 4 weeks. ( not even my normal chicks that I occasionally buy from public sources like feed stores or hatcheries ) but I can't say if yours still need supplemental heat or not.
Hi, I'm interested in hearing your options on the temperaments of different goose breeds based on your experiences. I just want to make sure that if I do get more geese some day I don't make the mistake of unknowingly get geese that are often more aggressive or loud than others. I know that each...
I love Frizzles!! ❤️ not so sure about at what age you can tell if they will be Frizzle or not. But they are all so cute! I wish I could get my Frizzles.
This is great information! I was planning on doing this for my rooster that got into a fight with another rooster. And I thought that he was blinded from it ( he was alright blind in one eye from a previous fight) but luckily he turned out to still be fine in his good eye. I have to chickens...
