    Handraising pigeon questions

Sorry just seeing all this! Let me know how it goes. I’m glad you found a vet that will see pigeons, that can be hard in some areas.

    Handraising pigeon questions

Okay good, that is a safe way to do so, and most similar to how a parent feeds. Other methods you risk aspiration. I use a tube directly into the crop but that takes some practice. Be sure there is enough formula in the syringe, so that the beak can stay fully covered, otherwise he will take in...

    More EE’s to sex!

I had actually made a separate post about #3 previously because I was wondering about the pattern. https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/i’m-impatient-lol-4-wk-ee.1622694/#post-27720748 We will keep either way, but still hope for a hen haha.

What does it mean when pigeons crave redstone grit?

Did you change brands or open a new bag of the red stone? I’ve found my pigeons go crazy for the red stone when it a brand or a batch that’s more salty, to where I need to really limit it or they wouldn’t stop.

    Handraising pigeon questions

Sorry I am just seeing this. Sometimes (very) gently massaging the crop after giving the warm apple sauce can help. If you are on Facebook, please join Palomacy Pigeon and Dove Rescue’s page. They are wonderful, I was a moderator on the site for a few years. They don’t need to eat often like...

TSC Easter Eggers from the pullet bin. Only 5 weeks old so too soon to know for sure, but I keep hearing about rows of peas and gender specific feathering so wondering if anyone has thoughts on these four. TIA!

    Handraising pigeon questions

Yes, please give him a nest, you can make a donut shape from a rolled up wash cloth or hand towel and tuck a paper towel in/around it. Pigeons can easily get splayed legs if on a slippery/smooth surface.

Okay thanks everyone! The others all look like this right now without the more solid colored feathers. I know EE’s can look so different from each other, I love them all 🥰

I’m impatient lol 4 wk EE

We got four TSC Easter Eggers, three are feathering out with very similar and uniform markings, and this one is patchy. I keep hearing that could mean roo, but does it always? I’ll keep him/her either way, but am aware that favorites often turn out to be cockerels lol so I’m preparing myself.
